It's just way way more ore than anyone is realistically capable of mining by any method. Minecraft as a game hasn't been around long enough for anyone to have done this themselves. The sand is easier if you are ok with using those cheatery sand generators but even so, still a big deal since you not only have to collect the gunpowder and sand, craft it into TNT, dig a hole so you can detonate it then run the hell away or use redstone to detonate it remotely (which also carries its own mining costs). That's more than a full real world year playing non-stop. At that rate, just the gunpowder would require 9,600 hours to harvest. The fastest mob grinder that I am aware of can harvest 4k drops an hour with about 1k/hour of that being gunpowder drops. To "mine" those 60 million blocks in that 1,000 by 1000 by 64 block area would require 9.6 million gunpowder (about 2,800 double chests worth) as well as 7.7 million blocks of sand. Hopefully Dinnerbone will change a few things.ġ TNT block excavates about 165 blocks for the cost of 4 sand and 5 gunpowder. Sorry for the rant, but I just felt like I needed to vent a little bit. Item naming should have a 5 level max or else it doesn't make sense to do so in the first place. If I'm going to name a tool, it's going to be one with really good enchantments, but that becomes unreasonable when you can't even repair highly enchanted tools and the fact it's going to cost 60 plus levels to do so in the first place. Almost no one is going to take low tier enchants and repair them for a high amount of levels when you can just enchant another pick with the same amount of levels and get a better result.Īdding a custom name to a tool should not cost 15 levels on top of whatever you're repairing. The anvil is an end game item, so why not be able to repair end game tools? To me, this makes the anvil borderline useless. Dinnerbone has stated that he does not want you to be able to repair your super items and just keep using the same tool over and over again. IV Fortune III pick with an Unbreaking III pick it tells me it costs 44 levels but does not give me the option to actually make the repair. When I want to repair my nearly broken Eff. They should keep the same crafting recipe, but make it to where it doesn't break. Why would you make it to where they break after a few uses? The fact that it costs 55 iron for 3(not sure if that is exact number) repairs makes it way too expensive. When have you ever heard of an anvil breaking? I've heard people saying that anvils can last 200 years. However, I believe the execution was flawed and has a few problems. It's gravity features and the fact that you can repair enchanted items is great. I love the idea of adding the anvil to the game. (#spoiler) = neat!
